Bust of the King right, laurelled and draped. Below, (date). Rv. .CHRS. - .REGN. - .VINC. - .IMP (different). Cross formed of eight Ls leaning, each arm crowned, with (workshop) in heart, cantoned by four lilies diverging from the centre. Dy.1427 - G.246a (missing) - Kind BnF cf. 1534 (1679) - Fr.421a ; Gold - 6,65 g - 25 mm - 6 h Top Pop: the only graded example! PCGS AU53 (51879702). This vintage is missing from the reference works! Minimal test mark at 1 o'clock on the reverse on the scroll. Barely rubbed with regular wear. Very good centering with this particular bust and a nice golden patina. Probably unique. Superb. Type particular to Béarn, with the draped bust only. The different ones are those of Louis Allerie and Pierre de Vergès, clerks of Christophe de La Live, regisseur des Monnaies, a five-pointed star, and Jacques de Soubeiran, engraver, with a hound. All the vintages are extremely rare: the 1679 copy from the Louis Théry collection, Jean Vinchon Numismatique sale, 21-22 April 1964, no. 383, was acquired by the Cabinet des Médailles of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, which owns only this copy [Source: Jean-Yves Kind, Catalogue des Monnaies royales de la BnF, 2024, tome 2].
