This specimen presents a variety known as "au gros L et aux grandes couronnes". The difference is a pierced wheel on the right and a cross on the reverse, for a star and a tower according to the archives. This variety is often considered to be a period forgery, but Clairand, 2023, no. 34200 does not mention it and gives it an R2 index [but where would one find an authentic example?], while CGB VSO 13, 2007, no. 1454 states "Faux double sol de billon improperly classified as a double sol au gros L et aux grandes couronnes".
