Louis XIV, as Apollo, stands at the top. Further down, the Muses of the mythological Parnassus, then the famous artists of the time (Racine, Molière, Corneille, Lully, etc.) and other medallions of lesser-known artists. The mountain was extended in 1743 and by 1766 had 364 references. It was built by Louis Garnier, assisted by Simon Curé for the medallions. The Parnassus is 2.73 metres high, weighs 1,350 kilos and is currently located in the North Wing, Questel staircase, of the Château de Versailles.
