Rare obol corresponding to the denarius E (Prou 685) of Schiesser who reports this obol as "not yet found". Very fine quality, complete and well centred. Slight grey patina. Rare. TTB to Superb.
According to Philippe Schiesser, "Les oboles unifaces de Charlemagne de Melle", Numismatique et archéologie en Poitou-Charentes, RT SENA 2, 2009, pp.49-62 and pl.VI, these obols are indeed divisionaries of the Charlemagne denarius.
