Lot no. 351
FRANCE. ADRIAN HELMET WITH DUNAND VISOR 1939. Standard 1915 steel Adrian helmet painted khaki fitted with a rare experimental DUNAND removable visor made from a strip of standard steel strip pierced with small horizontal slits, which swivels upwards thanks to its lateral attachment. BE Jean Dunand's first trials of face protection date back to 1916 and consisted of mobile visors that could be fitted to standard Adrian helmets. This was tested in May 1940, and was one of 600 ordered by the Armaments and Technical Studies Section in a final attempt that ended with the armistice in June 1940.
