Located in the Palais-Égalité (Palais-Royal) and made up of around one hundred members appointed by the Senate, the Tribunat was one of the four assemblies set up under the Consulate by the Constitution of Year VIII (1800). Along with the Corps Législatif, it took part in the procedure for passing legislation and was abolished in 1807.
