Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen!
PCGS AU53 (55951509).
Deep and clean strike, well centred, with an old black patina: exceptional quality! Very rare if not unpublished. Superb at Fleur de coin.
On the right, the galero or broad-brimmed flat hat in green (sinope) is accompanied by a cord with six tassels, the symbol of the bishop. Maximilien was Bishop of Cambrai from 1556 to 1562. He was elevated to the dignity of archbishop in 1562: our token precedes this accession. He also bears the title of D(uc) of Cambrai but was only Count of Cambrésis, and also Prince of the Holy Roman Empire.
