COMMARC. Right bust of Élisabeth-Charlotte de Lorraine, below signature S. VRB. Rv. GLORIA - COMMARCII. Joined shields, under a crown, of Leopold and the Duchess of Orléans, Princess of Commercy; in the exergue in three lines: ACCEPTO. A. PRINCIPATE/ COMMARC. FIDEL./ SACR. 1737. F.7568 (silver) - C.3732 (silver or bronze); Gold - 9.55 g - 27.5 mm - 12 h Top Pop: the only graded example! PCGS MS61 (50994604). This medal is commemorative and incorrectly classified by Feuardent or Corre as a token. The barely rubbed fields retain some of their brilliance. Minor nick at 4 o'clock on the edge. Very rare. Superb at Fleur de coin. Élisabeth-Charlotte was the daughter of Philippe d'Orléans and the sister of the Regent. She was the wife of Leopold of Lorraine and the mother of François III of Lorraine (I of Austria). When the latter relinquished Lorraine in 1737, she received the principality of Commercy, which reverted to the new duke, Stanislas Leszczynski, on his death.
