Special strike (SP). Fluted edge. With four leaves. The velvet of striking is hardly removed on the high reliefs. Some gold highlights. Rare. Superb at Fleur de coin.
Fluted or broken ferrules (giving an inscription in relief) were experimented with for current coinage at the end of the reign of Charles X. A report by the Coin Commission on 23 February 1830 confirmed the minting of coins from 1/4 to 2 francs with the fluted edge and from 5 to 40 francs with the edge in relief, forming a complete series (Le Franc, les monnaies, les archives, 2019, p.389).
