Rv. Crowned shield of France, accosted by 1 - F, between two branches of laurel, below (different) (date) (workshop).
G.450a - F.208 ; Silver - 5 g - 23 mm - 6 h
Special strike with fluted edge. With four leaves. The fields are covered with a slightly heterogeneous patina of collection, following a former cleaning. Rare. Superb at Fleur de coin.
Fluted or broken ferrules (giving an inscription in relief) were experimented with for current coinage at the end of the reign of Charles X. A report by the Coin Commission on 23 February 1830 confirmed the minting of coins from 1/4 to 2 francs with the fluted edge and from 5 to 40 francs with the edge in relief, forming a complete series (Le Franc, les monnaies, les archives, 2019, p.389).
