FRANCE - FRANCE Charles X (1824-1830). 1 franc, fluted edge (four leaves), Frappe spéciale (SP) 1830, A, Paris. CHARLES X KING OF FRANCE. Nude head left, below signature MICHAUT and T. Rv. Crowned shield of France, accosted by 1 - F, between two laurel branches, below (different) (date) (workshop). G.450a - F.208 ; Silver - 5.01 g - 23 mm - 6 h PCGS SP58 (55936902). Special strike with fluted edge. With four leaves. With a slightly matt patina, barely removed on the high reliefs. Some golden highlights. Rare. Superb at Fleur de coin. Fluted or broken ferrules (giving an inscription in relief) were experimented with for current coinage at the end of the reign of Charles X. A report by the Coin Commission on 23 February 1830 confirmed the minting of coins from 1/4 to 2 francs with the fluted edge and from 5 to 40 francs with the edge in relief, forming a complete series (Le Franc, les monnaies, les archives, 2019, p.389).
