Head of the Republic, with Liberty cap and long hair between two figures symbolising industry on the left and agriculture on the right; signatures H. DROPSY and GALTIÉ GR; below (date). Rv. FREEDOM. EGALITE - FRATERNITE. On a globe inscribed 25 OBOLES, Equality with broken chains, between Liberty and Fraternity; signatures H - DROPSY - CORBIN - GR. GEM.218.2; Bronze-aluminium - 14.43 g - 35 mm - 6 h This is the second highest grade! PCGS SP62 (59843049). Special strike (SP). With silver plating on reverse. A black spot on the reverse at 5 o'clock. Rare. Superb at Fleur de coin. H. Dropsy, who taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, was behind this private initiative, carried out with the help of the young André Léon Galtié (26) and Raymond Corbin (27). Corbin was to become his successor at the Beaux-Arts, as professor of medal engraving, in 1955.
