A flying eagle on the left and in the upper register, a propeller plane in front; signature S. GRUN. Rv. AÉRO-CLUB DE FRANCE / ET / SYNDICAT / DE LA PRESSE PARISIENNE / JOURNÉES NATIONALES / DE L'AVIATION / VINCENNES / 24-25 MAI 1931. Vermeil - 61.5 g - 50 mm - 12 h With engraved attribution to MARÉCHAL LYAUTEY and original box from Médaillier d'Art in Paris (an old label glued to the back). Hallmarks (head) SILVER (rhombus). The gilding is partly faded. A tiny nick on the edge. Superb. Louis Hubert Gonzalve Lyautey (1854-1934) was an officer during the colonial wars, resident general in the French Protectorate of Morocco in 1912, Minister of War during the First World War, then Marshal of France in 1921. In 1927 he was appointed general commissioner of the 1931 Colonial Exhibition in Paris.
