Adolphe Thiers was Minister several times from 1832, President of the Council of Ministers in 1848, and several times deputy between 1830 and 1877. He became President of the Republic in 1871 before Mac-Mahon was elected in 1873. He returned to the Chamber of Deputies after his presidency in 1876 until his death in May 1877.
