Study case for the members of the Commission d'étude d'une pièce de 2 francs in 1977, produced in 18 copies. The case is in fawn leather, with inscription inside: MONNAIE DE PARIS ESSAIS POUR LA COMMISSION D'ETUDE D'UNE PIECE DEUX FRANCS. This box contains 5 coins dated 1977: 5 nickel francs, with different denominations, without the word ESSAI, striated edge (10.05 g - 29 mm); 1 nickel franc, with different denominations, without the word ESSAI, striated edge, (6.01 g - 24 mm). These two coins are probably placed here for comparison. There are also three pre-series of 2 franc Semeuse in nickel, without the word ESSAI, axis at six o'clock: a pre-series with a round edge with spaced grooves and octagonal scroll (GEM.123.15 - 26.2 mm - 6.97 g); a preseries with eleven-sided edge and listel (GEM.123.12 - 26.5 mm - 7.01 g) and finally a preseries with eleven-sided edge and round listels (GEM.123.13 v. - 26 mm - 7.06 g). It should be noted that this last pre-series seems to be a variety of GEM.123.13, with a diameter of 26, instead of 26.5 mm, and with almost round listels, but still with a barely octagonal shape. Cases, sometimes of different composition, from this Commission d'étude can be found in the Kolsky collection, sale CGF VI no. 3945 (33,500 francs realised on a bid of 75,150 francs); sale iNumis 14 no. 1406; sales Palombo 10 no. 579 or 19 no. 612; finally, MDC 9 no. 880.
