FRANCE LIBRE Commemorative medal for volunteer services in the Free French Forces from General Charles de Gaulle In silver-plated bronze, accompanied by a reminder of the medal and an enamelled reduction for a buttonhole; In a presentation box marked "MÉDAILLE DE LA FRANCE LIBRE" in gold. Historical background: General de Gaulle and his son Philippe were both awarded this medal, which was created in April 1946 and commemorates commitment to the Free French Forces before 1943.
