FRANCE. ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR, instituted in 1802. Grand Officer's plaque from the July Monarchy period. Five-pointed double star in imitation of the embroidered silver plaques, with gold lining between the branches with enamelled tricoloured French flags. Centre in three parts, with a profile of King Henri IV laureate on the right and the legend "HONOUR AND PATRY" in gold. Reverse with rocking pin and two hooks. Boar's head hallmark. Gross weight: 47.6 g. Diameter: 77 mm. T.T.B. to SUP. Provenance: Collection of Mr F. EXPERT: Arnaud DE GOUVION SAINT-CYR.
