FRANCE Senior Officer's or General's sabre Gilt brass mounting with one branch decorated with a man holding a flag, probably Bonaparte at Arcole, pommel dotted with stars, shuttle-shaped auricles decorated with antique heads, curved quillon engraved with foliage, flat-backed curved blade, gilt and one-third blued with decoration of trophies of arms, Brass two-ring scabbard decorated with Neptune, god of the sea and horses, in the first reserve (possible addition), barrels and anchor of navy surmounted by a mask of grotesque and thunderbolt of the general staff, the other face decorated with a semi of flowers, sting steel in the shape of lyre. First Empire L. 97 cm ND Pitting, missing blade, accidents and oxidation By its decoration, we can attribute this sabre to a Senior Officer or General of the Naval Artillery or Cavalry.
