Elegant Japanese clock in bronze and cloisonné enamels
Representing an Asian figure in gilt bronze partially nielloed with silver, in the style of Japanese ivory okimono, with an expressive face, holding an instrument in his left hand and revealing the cloisonné enamel dial with Japanese numerals in his right hand. A lion 'shishi' protects the front.
The whole is presented on a rectangular base embellished with Greek motifs.
Attributable to Édouard Lièvre, possibly made for the Escalier de Cristal.
