Francesco Fracanzano (1612 - c.1656)
Portrait of a Man
Oil on canvas. Francesco Fracanzano was active mainly in Naples. He learned painting in the studio of Jusepe de Ribera. His early paintings were in some respects reminiscent of Caravaggio, but later he abandoned chiaroscuro and began to use a brighter color palette. His students included Salvator Rosa.
