Francisco Borès (1898 Madrid - 1972 Paris) Landscape Highly abstracted landscape in the tradition of Paul Cézanne and Henri Matisse. After Pablo Picasso, Borès belonged to the second generation of Spanish artists who came to Paris in the 1920s, alongside Ginés Parra, Pedro Flores and Antoni Clavé. In 1925 he moved to Paris, where he met Picasso and Juan Gris, who had a decisive influence on his work, as well as Henri Matisse, with whom he became close friends. In 1927, Borès had his first exhibition in Paris and enjoyed great success. At the same time, he became acquainted with Zervos, Max Jacob, Cocteau, Breton and Man Ray. From 1929 Borès often spent summers in the south of France, and in 1930 he travelled to Provence, where he often met Picasso and discovered the light and the Provençal landscape. Slightly browned.
