François Amisi was an academician who created a number of different pictorial styles. In the "flame" style, the shapes of humans, animals and objects are slightly distorted by the glow generated by the flames. In 1955-1956, he perfected the "bleed" style, in which shapes are modified by stained-glass effects. He then developed the "chopped", "cross" and "whirlwind" motifs. His colourful world brings to life scenes of everyday life in the Congo, rich in movement, charm and intensity, making the tradition universal thanks to his unique and timeless style.
