François de CUREL (1854-1928). 16 L.A.S., 1917-1928, to Édouard SCHNEIDER 22 pages various sizes, addresses and envelopes; plus qqs. visiting cards. Friendly correspondence with his young friend, who considered himself his disciple. The letters are written from his castle in Ketzing or his address in Paris, but also from Lucerne, Le Chesnay, Clermont-Ferrand or Marlotte. In particular, Curel talks about his plays: the revival of L'Invitée and La Figurante at the Comédie-Française and work on his next play (La Comédie du génie), La Fille sauvage in Geneva (1918), Copeau's revival of Le Repas du lion in America, the completion of L'Immaculée (1918), the success of L'Âme en folie (1919), etc. Curel gives his opinion of Schneider's works, talks about the war, etc. Enclosed is a photograph of F. de Curel with Carl Spitteler; F. de Curel's death announcement; 2 manuscripts a.s. from Édouard SCHNEIDER concerning F. de Curel; plus an important documentary file assembled by Schneider: typescripts, extracts from reviews, press cuttings, newspapers and a brochure.
