François Gigot de LA PEYRONIE (1678-1747) surgeon, founder of the Royal Academy of Surgery. P.A.S., Saint-Léger Tuesday 12 September 1741 half-page in-4. Health bulletin of Louis XV. "The King went hunting yesterday, he walked in the evening, his night was better than the previous one. He is digesting well and eating better than he did yesterday and the day before. We have reason to be pleased with his health"... [The King, very distressed by the recent death three days earlier of his mistress the Countess of Vintimille, by giving birth to a son of royal blood, had taken refuge at Saint-Léger near Rambouillet. Grief having made him lose his appetite, he had gone two days without eating, as this report confirms. It was La Peyronie who had given birth to Mme de Vintimille. This report in his handwriting was intended to be made public, in order to reassure the Court].
