FRANCOISE GILOT (1921-2023). Drawing in blue ink representing a female face seen from the front and in profile. 11.5 x 8.9 cm, signed lower right. The drawing, executed on white card, is fixed here on grey card, on which a photograph from a newspaper has been pasted, showing François Gilot followed by Picasso, who is holding a parasol to protect her. Françoise Gilot, a painter, was Picasso's companion between 1944 and 1953. She had two children with him, Claude and Paloma. Picasso called her "the woman who says no".
