Herrmann ESTIMATE °€ 50 - € 100 STARTING PRICE € 50 Frank Simon Herrmann was an American painter. Herrmann studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1883 to 1888. From 1892 to 1893, he continued his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris and from 1894 to 1895 at the École des beaux-arts under Adolphe William Bouguereau and Gebriel Ferrier, also in Paris. From 1895 to 1919, Herrmann worked as a freelance artist in Munich. His daughters Thea Herrmann-Trautner (1897-1980), second wife of Wilhelm Thöny, and Eva Herrmann, painter, illustrator, and caricaturist (Munich 1901-1978 Santa Barbara), were born around this time. Their mother was Anna Herrmann, née Schlesinger. From Munich, Frank S. Herrmann undertook study trips to Italy, the Netherlands (Katwijk), and France. He devoted himself primarily to Italian and Dutch motifs and participated in exhibitions at the Munich Glass Palace, the Paris Salon, in Venice, and in the USA. In 1914, Herrmann became a member of the Freie Vereinigung der XXIV and the Munich Secession. His friendship with Alfred Stieglitz also belongs to this context. In 1919, Herrmann returned to New York; he eventually moved to his parents' house in Elberon, NJ.
