No biographical details are known about the illustrator F. Sigl. This drawing was created for the Munich-based magazine "Radfahr-Humor," founded in 1887 by the mechanical engineer and bicycle enthusiast Heinrich Hildebrand. Perhaps the most important illustrator to work for "Radfahr-Humor" was Emil Kneiß (186 -1956). The "Hildebrand & Wolfmüller" motorbike, initiated by Hildebrand and introduced in 1894 (production period 1894-1995), was the world's first mass-produced motorbike. "Radfahr-Humor" was discontinued in 1901. The drawing is from the graphic collection of Friedrich Wilhelm Denzel, Munich.
