French sculptor of the Belle Epoque (active at the end of the 19th century) Faun and nymph Chryselephantine group in bronze with gold-coloured cold patination and carved ivory, mounted on a dark marble base. Fully sculpted, dynamically moving, bacchanalian depiction in the tradition of Clodion. A young, fully bearded faun with a panpipe resting on an irregular natural plinth on a tree stump, looking up at the nymph kneeling above him, who holds grapes in her raised left hand; behind the tree stump a basket with a pomegranate and further grapes. Total h. 37 cm. CITES certificate available. French sculptor active late 19th century.
