French sculptor (active in the 19th/20th century) Large bust of a noble lady from the Ancien Reginme White marble. Bust probably of a mistress of the French kings Louis XV or Louis XVI, her dress falling far down to the left breast, her head turned into half profile. The sculpture with subtly smoothed and polished details and surfaces, influenced by (or after) an 18th century original; modern rectangular, profiled base in cream-coloured, polished marble.
