FREDERIC-JULES RUDOLPHI BAGUIER In agate, the enamelled silver frame decorated with two tritons, pearls and bunches of red stone. The base is embossed with vine leaves. French work, circa 1840. Poinçon de maitre. A French agate, enamel, red stone, pearl and silver ring holder, by Frédéric-Jules Rudolphi. Circa 1840. Note : Frédéric-Jules Rudolphi began goldsmithing in Copenhagen and was soon encouraged by his talent to move to Paris in 1835. His success was marked by the presence of many of his works in international art collections (V&A Museum, Louvre Museum, Lang Yi in Hong Kong, etc.), and bears witness to the "fine traditions of centuries when the goldsmith walked alongside the sculptor and the painter" (report by the jury of the 1849 Universal Exhibition).
