Gabor Vida (1937 Budapest - 2007 ibid.) In the painter's studio View into the studio of a 19th-century painter; in a light-flooded room, staged as a painter's studio with detailed furnishings, the greying painter and his assistant are fully immersed in the creative process of a new painting on the easel. Executed in very finely glazed painting, this is a characteristic work by the Hungarian artist, typical in its depiction of figures and effective use of light. From 1961 onwards, Vida developed a wide range of artistic activities, and in 1977 he began to paint more intensively. He executed his genre paintings with picturesque, nostalgic motifs in old-masterly, finely glazed layers. The special charm of Vida's works lies in the excellent combination of masterful materiality and expressive characterisation of the figures with subtle humour.
