Lot no. 60
Gabrielle ROCHARD - 20th century
Black and blue earthenware free-form bowl with open-worked handle.
Signed on the reverse.
13 x 29 cm
Note: Gabrielle ROCHARD is the mother of Jacques Serre des 2 potiers. In the early 1950s, she set up a ceramics workshop before moving on to a design and contemporary art gallery in Clermont-Ferrand, where she championed the works of Charlotte Perriand, Georges Jouve and Serge Mouille. Her short-lived ceramic creations are rare and sought-after today, and foreshadow the artistic approach of the 2 potters.
Bibliography: Similar motif reproduced on page 25 in the book "Les 2 potiers" by Thomas Leporrier, TL Editions, 2015.
