A Louis XV style gilt-bronze mounted, satinwood and kingwood stand, by Maison Millet The monogram "MB" on the reverse of some of the bronze ornaments on this precious stand is the founder's mark of Blaise Millet, creator of the famous firm of the same name, which was active in Paris in the second half of the 19th century. A piece of high furniture stamped by Millet, and featuring bronze ornamentation comparable to that found on our girdle, sold at Sotheby's New York on 16 November 2011 (see fig. 1), lot 308 ($206,500). *Information for buyers: Lot from outside the EU: The hammer price is exclusive of VAT.
