The photographs show: 1 - Sallanches and the Montblanc, 2 - La Mer de Glace (Chamonix), 3 - La Mer de Glace (Chamonix), slightly different view, 4 - Traversée de la Mer de Glace (Chamonix), 5 - Glacier des Bossons, 6 - Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc (foxing on the last plate, excellent condition for the others). Auguste Garcin (1816 - 1895) was a photographer from Geneva. His work, and that of his successor John Jullien, between 1865 and 1890, was featured in the Grand Tour exhibition at the Bibliothèque de Genève, from 30 September 2024 to 25 January 2025.
