Album of 12 original photographs pasted on cardboard, mounted on tabs, with printed captions. The views show: 1- The Chamonix cemetery. 2- The Tête Noire (Chamonix road). 3 - Chamonix and Mont Blanc. 4- The Mer de Glace (Chamonix). 5- Crossing the Mer de Glace (Chamonix). 6- The Mauvais Pas (Chamonix). 7- The Mer de Glace seen from La Flégère. 8 - Mont-Blanc seen from Plan-Praz. 9 - Chamonix and the Brévent. 10 - Les Grands Mulets et le Mont Blanc [sic] en réalité Passage des Échelles aux Grands Mulets - 11 - Les grands Mulets et le Mont Blanc. 12 - Ascension du Mont Blanc. 13- Pont de Ste. Marie Route de Chamonix. Some foxing in the margins. Superb album, rare. Auguste Garcin (1816 - 1895) was a photographer from Geneva. His work, as well as that of his successor John Jullien, between 1865 and 1890, was the subject of the Grand Tour exhibition at the Bibliothèque de Genève, from 30 September 2024 to 25 January 2025.
