Rare first edition of this ballet libretto evoking the coronation of Louis XVI, crowned in Reims on 11 June 1775. Maximilien Gardel (1741-1787), master dancer at Marie-Antoinette's balls, dedicated this work to the queen. Printed on strong paper, slightly bluish. A superb copy in morocco with the arms of Madame Élisabeth (1764-1794), sister of Louis XVI, then aged eleven. It remained unknown to Quentin-Bauchart. This precious volume was in the libraries of Baron Lucien Double (Cabinet d'un curieux, n°45, and cat. 1897, n°53) and Robert Hoe (1911, n°1422). Minor restorations to the binding.
