A Louis XVI style ormolu and chased bronze CHIMNEY with a rich decoration of acanthus leaves, laurel garlands and lion's heads holding rings in their gules. It includes two six-light candelabras and a clock with a white enamelled dial with Arabic and Roman numerals signed on the reverse "G. Philippe / 66 Palais Royal 67", topped by a covered vase. Brocot suspension movement. Napoleon III period. Used condition, minor accidents, some wear, movement probably needs to be overhauled, operation not guaranteed, missing winding key. Pendulum: H. 57, W. 33, D. 20 cm; candelabra: H. 65, W. 30, D. 27 cm. G. Philippe, based in Paris at 66-67 Palais Royal, was a clockmaker who practised in the years 1870-1880. He is listed in Tardy's dictionary of watchmakers.
