GAULE. 80-50 BC. Oval statère. 7.24g, Ø 19 to 20 mm. Estimated to have been struck around 80-50 BC. Obverse anepigraph with head on the left, hair styled with pulled back locks falling on the neck and earrings falling on the left cheek. Reverse anepigraph with androcephalous horse galloping left, led by charioteer holding stimulus terminated by square standard (vexillum) with cross and soldier reclining right under horse holding arms. This specimen is rare (R3) with a well-centred strike, graded TTB+.
