GAULE - CELTIC Ambiens. Quarter statère "with Indian head", class I on the right, variety "with bird" ND (2nd century BC). Head laureate right, hair in crescents at temple and in curls back above laurels; neck appears clothed. Rv. Horse right, with remains of wheel under tail and charioteer above; small bird standing, head left, between legs. DT.S59A; Gold - 1.83 g - 14 mm - 10 h Comes from a private purchase at the SNENNP show in Paris on 15 March 2014. This type is reported in the Nouvel Atlas supplement as "practically unpublished" known from a drawing of 1854. The metal barely pinched. Regular wear and good centering. Very rare. TTB.
