Female head (?) left, hair in long, fine locks, neck adorned with torque.
Rv. Eagle front, wings spread, field decorated with rings and pentagrams; legend VANDII[NOS] below.
LT. cf. 7988-7981 - DT.2587 - RIG.294 ; Bronze - 3,45 g - 16 mm - 12 h
Minted on a blank previously cast in a string. Vigorous strike with a shiny black patina. Superb.
In La Tour, these bronzes, which have been found in large numbers between the Somme and the Oise in military camps but are absent from sanctuaries and settlements, were classified as Bellovoque. The Biturige origin seems to be accepted, but it is true that their distribution "extends well beyond the territories attributed to the Carnutes" (cf. Nouvel Atlas Tome II, p.133).
