GAULE - CELTIC Parisii. Statere, class VI with beaded hair and horse to right ND (first half of 1st century BC). Stylized head to right, hair in locks pulled back and ending in curls, separated from the face by 2 crescents; a volute in front of the face, a pinecone (?) under the chin and the base of the neck decorated with a chevron line; pearled decoration between the locks and under the chin. Rv. Horse right, a fillet of 24 squares above (CdB note 71 p.21); 5 globules in bloom between the legs, with a pearled triangle below the belly; exergue formed of a pearled line with pearled cartouche in the centre. Mainjonet, n° 58 - RN 1962, p.64 "we can assure you that coin 101 from the sale of 20 March 1953 was part of Trésor n° 58; and p.72) sold at Maurice Rheims, É. Bourgey expert, 20 March 1953, n° 101 "one of the rare examples of the juucheval type on the right" then at Fraysse, S. Bourgey expert, 23 January 2020, n° 12 and finally at MDC 6 n° 32. This is the only Parisii class with the horse on the right, intermediate between Va and VII. Very rare, with only 3 examples cited by Colbert de Beaulieu, including BnF and this one! Spectacular, on a slightly domed flan. Golden patina. TTB to Superb.
