GAULE - CELTIC Rèmes (1st century BC). Statère with ND eye (100-50 BC). Head on the right, with enlarged eye in the centre of a decoration occupying the entire surface of the flan. On the right, three radiating stars. Rv. Horse on the left, in figurative style, with ball-and-socket joints between the legs and a decorated three-stranded tail. Above, the corner of the horse is pelleted within a cordiform beaded motif. Below, a ringlet centred on a point, surrounded by a beaded circle. In front of the head, a small square with a cross and a star in front of the horse. Under the horse, a ground line formed by alternating triangles, centred with a dot. DT.174 - LT.8799; Gold - 6.24 g - 17 mm - 3 h Remarkable quality, both for the very detailed right-hand side and for the reverse, with a ground line that is not usually included! Very fine style. With a golden patina. Superb.
