GAULE - CELTIC Venetes or Riedons. Statère de billon à la rouelle, class I, variety 3 ND (1st century BC). Av. Profile on the right, with hair in three rolls, extended downwards by long S-shaped locks, with coiled and pointed curls, two volutes starting from the mouth. Rv. Androcephalous horse right, led by its charioteer holding the reins; under the horse a beaded wheel with four spokes; the charioteer holds a cord ending in a vexillum with pendants above the horse's tail; a beaded rosette in front of the horse. DT.2314 v. - LT.6811 v. ; Billon - 7.45 g - 20.5 mm - 7 h Could come from the treasure of Guer/Ploërmel (56). Good centering with the complete type. The New Atlas does not distinguish the different obverse sides with a common reverse like the one with the four-rayed wheel. Barely rubbed in the fields. TTB to Superb.
