I say opportunity, because the trains of leave-holders that are formed here for France leave haphazardly. Moreover, their itinerary is hardly mapped out in any precise way. [...] The Orient-Express is reserved for senior officers (I'm talking about the real ones), or people who have an urgent reason. I can't take it. The sweet prospect of those long days on the road in harsh conditions of heat and settling in is nothing compared to the joy I feel at seeing you again soon and attending the great family ceremony", the wedding of his brother Xavier... 18th November. "Here I am, once again in a different accommodation, but not at the same destination. Here (near Modlin) I am in charge of a course for 100 Polish officers. The course lasts a month. My pupils are starting to arrive. From a job point of view, it's a big advance. But it's also a lot of work, and it's not going to help me to prepare for the War College as calmly as I had intended and as I had started to do. However, I will be going around March, but without much hope. The Polish army will have been - as I intended it to be - a military restoration for me. This restoration is on the right track. After that, I will work on my own account"...
