As events unfolded, this opinion grew stronger, while your father's character and 'virtue' took on a noble dimension. When he became my collaborator in the government of Victory, - he who had been Clemenceau's collaborator - I could see that no one would be more upright, more firm, more disinterested than he. And you know how precious were the discussions I had with him from time to time, and the testimonials he sent me, right up to these very last months.
