Beautiful letter illustrating the piety of the General and the attention paid to the entourage of his former companions. Xavier Langlois, a companion of the Liberation, was killed on 23 November 1944 in the Haut-Rhin. His widow entered the faith. The General addressed Mrs Langlois, who was "taking the veil": "Allow me to tell you, from the depths of my respect, how much I admire and envy the vocation of human renunciation that you have chosen to follow. The sacrifice of your husband, dear brave officer of France, how could you glorify and complement it better? On 19 March, my fervent thoughts will join those he will send you from his immortal home. And I will be thanking God for the lesson in such pure humility that, on his part, you are teaching me and everyone else"... LNC, II, p. 815.
