GAULLE Charles de.
L. A. S., "C. 15 December 1953, to his son Lieutenant Philippe de GAULLE (in Lartigue near Oran); 2 pages in-8 headed Le Général de Gaulle.
De Gaulle finishes writing L'Appel, and mentions the forthcoming election of René Coty as President of the Republic (23 December).
"My dear Philippe, After a lot of travelling and manoeuvres, I hope that you and your flotilla will now have some stability, if not some leisure time. I was happy to see you the other day, well assured of yourself. Nor was I angry to see your Avengers, which made a solid impression on me.
As for me, I'm currently immersed in the first (i.e. last) chapter of my book. I'd like to have it all finished by the end of February and then give it to the publishers. Needless to say, I have nothing to do with the election of the President of the regime. That can only lead to the establishment of mediocrity once again"...
