He wishes him "a happy birthday. I think it's the first time I've wished you a happy birthday from afar. That's how life goes. Your last 'gallop' before the race has begun. Concentrate. Get to the bottom of things, whether it's French, Greek or maths. Mum is gradually recovering. [...] Anne is fine. [...] It seems to me that France is gradually recovering. In any case, we have the impression that, backed by England and better informed, we will no longer accept any new humiliations"... LNC, I, p.852. An L. A.
