Lot no. 70
GAULLE Charles de
L.A.S., Paris, 6 May 1935, to Paul Reynaud ; 4 pages in-8 on the printed letterhead of the Presidency of the Conseil Supérieur de la Défense Nationale.
Paul Reynaud complimented by Charles de Gaulle.
"I don't know whether my modest testimony will be of any value to you, but I would like to tell you that, as an observer, I can see the regard in which your personality is held rising rapidly and very high in public opinion: whether it is a question of your recommendations on financial, economic and monetary matters, or your position on the military problem, there is no doubt that people everywhere are showing increasing attention and esteem for you. You are already being hailed as the statesman who has ideas, a programme... and courage, in the midst of universal shortcomings.
I am, of course, Minister, always entirely at your disposal for any follow-up you may think necessary to your action in the field of national defence, and would be very happy to serve the country in personal collaboration with the great force of the very near future that you represent.
Slight tear at the head but no damage to the text.
