On the cover of this booklet, De Gaulle wrote the title La Fille de l'Agha (The Daughter of the Agha), with this note: "Short story published by me in 1910 in 'le Journal des Voyages', C. de Gaulle".
The booklet contains a photographic reproduction of the text that appeared in the 6 February 1910 issue of the weekly Journal des voyages et des aventures de terre et de mer (p. 155-156), signed by the pseudonym Charles de Lugale and bearing the title Le Secret du spahi. Posted to southern Algeria, Officer Meillan, a lieutenant in the 5th spahis, falls in love with the beautiful Medella, daughter of the agha of the Beni-Matar, whose pillaging he must prevent.
